Are you looking to find out more information on Chilbolton Cow Common? Take a look at our visit here on a warm sunny day where the kids enjoyed paddling at Chilbolton Cow Common river.

We had a lovely walk to Chilbolton Cow Common as I had heard such lovely things about it. However, we didn’t park at the Chilbolton Car Park which is right near the river we were heading to. We parked in a car park at the Wherwell Cricket Club (no cricket on!) and near Wherwell School. We wanted a walk, and this village was super cute as well.

I have since seen that there have been big issues with the Chilbolton Cow Common area, with vandalising, anti-social behaviour, and too many people parking at the car park. Which is such a shame that people have to ruin things. This area is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and needs to be looked after and enjoyed nicely, so please just go and enjoy the area nicely.

You need to follow the main road down past this stunning Thatched cottage, this is the main road with no pavement, so be careful.

Keep following the road along, you will pass this area, keep following straight through and past the pub on the right. Take the road that goes along the left of the pub.

Follow this road along, and take in the lovely house that is along here! You won’t miss it!

You will come across a bridge with a noticeboard up on the right-hand side, this is the bridge you need to take over the river to the fields.

Then once over the bridge turn left and walk across the field. I didn’t take a photo of this field as it was very busy with people, the same as the main area of the river too. You just keep walking across the field until you come to a river with another bridge. This is Chilbolton Cow Common and where you will find this beautiful area.

This is a pretty shallow water area, but please be respectful of the river and the surroundings. It’s a stunning area, that can be enjoyed by many people and we want it to stay that way.
