Avington Country Park walk is a nice walk to do, with interesting things to see, walks along the river, woodlands and farmland. With a free car park to park in at the start
Avington country park is pretty easy to find and not far off the main A31 in Winchester. But once you come off this main road you drive straight into the countryside and some very cute villages around.
This walk is a really interesting circular walk that starts at the Avington country park car park, it is a small roadside car park that you can see from the road. It’s on the right-hand side (when coming from the A31 side) and tucked behind the trees. It’s free to park here.

To the right of this car park, you will see the stunning grounds of Avington house, this is a stunning manor house where you can get married and hold events. It looks over this beautiful lake, where you will find some benches here to stop and look over the lake.

Take a walk up the hill following along the road.

Follow the road all the way along, it’s not too busy this road but be aware of the cars as there isn’t a pavement.

Keep going along the road until you see this wooden bridge on the right-hand side, take this path.

Follow the path along, where you come to a stunning river edge. These views are soooo beautiful and I could pull up a chair and sit there for hours!

Once you’ve walked over this bridge, you’re come out into a village with some houses. Take this route to the left hand side.

Then just keep following this path along,

Some very pretty views along the way

Once you’ve walked for a while you walk past some beautiful cottages on the left and the Church at the end. Turn left at the end of this path.

Once you get to the end you will see this little path, follow it down towards the river.

Cross over another perfect pooh sticks bridge!

There was a little note saying if the dogs wanted a paddle then this little area was perfect for them!

Once you’re over the bridges you will need to walk through this field and head toward to the top right-hand corner.

Around the corner to the right and you will see the gate.

Once you’re through this gate take the driveway down towards the road, and turn left. Now you just need to follow this road all the way back up and you will recognise the start!

Back up to the Avington country park view and car park!
