Since I purchased an ordnance survey map, we’ve found some amazing places to explore and Beacon Hill is one of my favourite finds. We’re very lucky living in Hampshire as we have a wide range of places to find, from beaches, countryside, and hidden gems in the cities.
So I was happy to find Beacon Hill for a little walk around with the kids, a picnic at the top, and some amazing views. Oh and don’t forget the bird of prey Kites flying all around! These are very special to see and to see them so closely as well.
We parked at the small car park under the trees, keep an eye out for the car park when approaching, as it’s tucked under the trees, and on a sharp corner of the road.

There seemed to be a couple of routes you can take from this car park, but we took the one to the right when you’re looking at the parked cars, by this sign. There is a large gate here to go through.

Carry on through the gate and up the long tree-lined path. If you take a look to the right you can start to see the amazing views you get at Beacon Hill. This path is easy to walk along, and it leads up to the viewing point, which isn’t far along this path.

This isn’t the only place for a great view, all along this pathway is stunning.

We took the path that carried along the top of Beacon Hill, and through these large gates.

This was the view we were greeted with, and it wasn’t far along to get to this point either, perfect if you’re looking for somewhere peaceful but not a big walk.

It was breathtaking up here, you could see for miles and miles.
We also saw about 3 Red Kite Birds too which was amazing. After our trip to Scotland where you see them loads, we love spotting them down here!

This is what you want to look out for, this photo was taken in Scotland when there were hundreds of them to capture!

We sat and had our picnic on the top of the hill, looking out over this. Watched the birds flying, the farmer bringing in his cattle. We also tried to figure out what we could see on the horizon, and what direction everything was. I couldn’t believe how far we could see, next time I will bring my binoculars!
I wanted to extend this walk, as it wasn’t very long at all to get here. Perfect for very little legs, and who just want a small walk and a picnic. It was very peaceful up here, and I would love to go back with hubby on our own for a picnic together. Could have stayed there a lot longer!

You can head down over the hill a bit too, but I couldn’t figure out where to go from here. We went down the hill, towards a field that had sheep in it. The gate was pretty firmly locked, and the field next to it said private land. I am sure the other route from the car park takes you into those woods over there in this picture, but I couldn’t figure out how we get to it! Maybe next time!
So we chickened out and turned back and took the same route back to the Beacon Hill car park.

We will be back to explore the other route at Beacon Hill, and also if I need somewhere peaceful for a picnic and not really fancying a walk far, I will be back!
