Are you looking for somewhere to stay near Alton Towers Theme Park? Don’t fancy staying in Alton Towers Resort and want somewhere peaceful to stay near Alton Towers? Then take a look at Dove Meadow B&B, it’s quiet, only 10 minute drive from Alton Towers, home cooked breakfast each morning and parking. Take a look at our visit in the Easter Holidays with 2 of our children whilst we had 2 days at Alton Towers.
We paid for this stay ourselves, but we are sharing our experience.
We stayed in the Apple Tree Chalet, which sleeps 4 people: 2 in a double or twin bed and 2 on a sofa bed in the living room. The chalet is outside of their house, on its own, but still within the owner’s property. They also have 2 other rooms in the main house that you can book.
Arrival
Dove Meadow B&B was easy to find, you can use Google and use the name to find where you need to go. It was just off the main roads, so you don’t have many country lanes to take to reach it. Upon arrival, the owners weren’t home but left instructions for us to follow. So this didn’t delay us getting settled into the chalet after our drive.

Parking wasn’t a problem with a gated entrance and parking for multiple cars. We were able to park directly outside the chalet. It also has an electric charging point if you need this.

Apple Tree Chalet Outside
Outside is a large decked area with bistro seating. This would be nice to use in the warmer months, but we didn’t use this. The outside area is the owner’s front garden, which is pretty and well-maintained, so, along with the views of the fields, it offers a nice outlook. The owner’s dogs have a little dog who is very friendly and happily runs around the garden, along with a couple of cats that like to wander around too!

Apple Tree Chalet Inside
Through the front door, you step into the living room, with a handy doormat area where you can leave your shoes. Here you will find the sofa bed, and dining seating area, which can be extended out and used as an extra fold-out seat. With cupboards with all your bedding, pillows, books, games and DVD’s to use.

You have everything you need for your stay at Dove Meadow B&B, using Apple Tree Chalet means you have access to a small kitchenette area. This has all your basic cooking items, plenty of cups, glasses and cutlery.

You have a kettle, microwave, fridge, hob, and sink to use. There were some nice basics left in the fridge and side when we arrived.
Main Bedroom In Apple Tree Chalet
It comes with a separate main bedroom, which can be used as either a twin room or a double (request before arrival). So this is a great space if you are 2 people visiting, or you can use it to put the kids in for the evening and then use the sofa bed for the adults to sleep on. Allowing you to watch TV in the living room in the evening.

With the use of a TV, dressing area and a good-sized wardrobe to store your clothes, and packing items you’ve bought along with you as a family.

The view out this window was so lovely; the lambs had been born recently, so we had lots of bouncing lambs running around the field. It was such a pleasure to watch them so closely.

Shower Room
The shower provided was a good size with a heated towel rail and very fluffy towels. I now need to upgrade my own towels after using these ones!

Breakfast at Dove Meadow B&B
We’ve never stayed at a B&B before, always opting for self-catering, however, we loved the idea of a nice full breakfast before heading out for a full-on day at Alton Towers. Well, we got just that! I can now see the appeal of a B&B!

Getting up each morning to a home cooked breakfast was lovely! The owner would make sure, the evening before, that he had our order and what we liked. He would ask us what time we wanted breakfast, and it would be delivered to the Apple Tree Chalet each morning.

This was my cooked breakfast, which was made from local produce, and it was super tasty. Fresh coffee was provided, and everything was kept warm for us.
There was also another option of pancakes, which my daughter happily ordered on the 2nd day!

Everything was cooked perfectly, and we loved it all.
Dinner Eating Options
We decided to save money on eating, using the Dove Meadow’s Apple Chalet facilities. Cooking microwave jacket potatoes one night, and pasta with sauce the next. This all worked well, with plenty of utensils and items to cook with.
We decided to pick up Fish and Chips on the way back from Alton Towers one night. We visited Rocester Fish & Pizza and were very impressed by the quality of the food.
