We had a lovely few days in Copenhagen, so I thought I would share with you where we stayed whilst we were there, and what we thought of it.
I found this great property on AirBnB, which is my new love for finding holiday properties! The initial reason why we chose the Copenhagen Beach House was due to the location. We wanted something that we could easily travel around Copenhagen from, and somewhere that we could also relax. A few days before we visited our friends in Sweden, so we knew with all the travelling we had done, we might want a place where we could relax in too.
The Copenhagen beach house is situated about 10 minutes on the metro from the city centre, 10 minutes on the metro from the airport, and a 5-minute walk from the beach. So this gave us everything in terms of the location. The metro station is only a 2-minute walk from the house, so when we left at 4:30 am to get back to the airport we didn’t have the stress of travelling far with 3 tired kids in tow! Also when returning from a busy day out, the house was so close.
When we arrived at the beach house, we were really pleased with our choice, it was super clean and tidy, and the kid’s room had toys to play with and books to read. The beds weren’t made up when we arrived, which is unusual, but not something that bothered me too much. However, if I had arrived late, after a long journey it may have. I have since learnt that this is very standard in Denmark.
If your like me and love a nice cup of tea when you arrive somewhere, make sure you stop off and get some milk and supplies first! The kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils, and equipment to use. You are free to use their condiments for cooking.
We had requested to have our 3 children sleep in the back room together, so they had a bunk bed, and an extra mattress on the floor. The rooms had blackout blinds which are well-needed in the city! The bedroom had all the owner’s kids’ toys in there, so the children had toys to play with, and books to read.
We had the front room, with 2 single beds together.
The bathroom was great, with enough hot water for all of us, a decent shower, and enough toilet rolls and towels for everyone.
There is a utility room with a toilet downstairs, and there is a washing machine and dryer. However, you need to purchase your own washing powder. I have suggested to the owner that it would be really helpful if they could provide a couple of washing tablets for us to use if need be. With kids, you never know the mess they may cause, but I wouldn’t want to purchase a box of washing powder, to only end up using it once!
The beach was another reason for picking this house, it was only a 5-minute walk away from the house. However the weather wasn’t really on our side, and even though it was sunny, it was pretty windy on the beach and we ended up only visiting on the first day we arrived! It was about 6 pm, things were shut up, and it was pretty empty. It is a great spot for having an evening run, walk, and swim for the locals though. You will also find a couple of restaurants to visit here too.
Also near the beach is the local Lidl, which is perfect for picking up bits and bobs for your stay. We shop at Lidl at home, so could easily recognise foods! There is a larger supermarket about 10 minutes walk away.
There were a lot of apartments for rent in Copenhagen, but we liked the idea of a garden to chill in the evenings too. I love the big glass doors that looked out into the garden from the house too.
Overall we were really pleased with our trip to the Copenhagen Beach House, it’s great for a family, a fantastic location and we would happily book it again.

Update 2023, I have had another look at the Copenhagen Beach House and it looks even better than it did we when visited. It has a roof terrace and has been extended. So well worth a visit

That’s amazing the beach is so close to the city, what a lovely balance between the two! I’m going to Copenhagen next week and can’t wait, it’s such a great city!

I love Copenhagen, it is such a wonderful city to visit with children. This is such a lovely way to see the Scandinavian lifestyle, everything is so crisp.
It was great fun, the kids had an amazing time
We love hotels but we’ve used Air Bnb a lot more since having our kids. They get their own bedroom, we get living space and we can cook. And it’s cheaper. Love it, but still love hotels 🙂
I’ve always done self catering, so I would find hotels tricky to stay in with kids!
