Over the past few years, flower fields have become very popular, a perfect day out to visit a flower field with stunning flowers for beautiful photos, and a chance to visit the farms where the flowers are grown. I love that the farms usually have onsite shops and cafes so you can really extend your day there, and support these local farmers. So where to find a lavender field near you?

We visited a Lavender Field in Alton and had a lovely afternoon. I visited a few years ago with my Mum and son, however upon returning this time there was a significant reduction in Lavender. Half of the farm was filled with a wildflower meadow and the other half Lavender. Also, I found the gaps between the plants were really large, so you didn’t get too swamped in Lavender.

However, my girls really enjoyed learning about the different types of Lavender and smelling all the different types and figuring out which variety smelt the best!

You may worry about the bees and young children, but it was a great opportunity to show them that no one got stung, this was a lesson to him: that the bees are more interested in what they are doing than you!

The Lavender Fields open for short periods of time in the year before they harvest the flowers, so keep an eye out for the ones nearest to you and when they update their opening dates.

We also visited Lordington Lavender fields in 2017 and this one was stunning, set upon a hill you got a stunning backdrop of Lavender to your photos, and the walkways were much closer together, so you could really disappear in the Lavender!
