Are you looking for a real Christmas Tree in Hampshire? Even better are you looking for a Christmas tree you can cut down yourself? Then take a look at Wylds Christmas Tree Farm in Liss Hampshire. You can cut down your own Christmas tree or collect one of their own pre-cut trees. They’re as fresh as you can get and it’s such an experience for the family.

A decorated Christmas tree with gold baubles stands beside a brick fireplace with a lit wood-burning stove. The mantelpiece is adorned with candles, garland, and a star, creating a cosy festive atmosphere.

Make sure you follow the instructions to get to Wylds Christmas tree farm as it’s in a village and down some country lanes where people, horses and children walk along. When you arrive you will be directed into the car park which is pretty muddy, so follow their directions not to get stuck in the mud!

Follow the entrance signs when you arrive in the courtyard area, it’s free entry, no ticket, just turn up.

When you arrive in the courtyard it’s filled with Christmas spirit! Fires burning, food cooking, warm drinks and plenty of atmospheres. If you visit on one of their event weekends they have live music playing as well, just to add to the atmosphere even more.

Several potted evergreen trees are displayed outdoors near a metal railing and large brown container, with a group of bundled-up people in the background under a wooden shelter.

I didn’t want to take photos of people and children, so you just have to visit if you want to see what it’s like there! It was pretty busy, but not overcrowded.

There are a few food stalls in the courtyard selling really nice food, it isn’t the greasy spoon stuff, but really nice good quality food.

A barbecue outdoors with sliced burger buns, mushrooms in a pan, and a basket of chestnuts cooking. Nearby are pots, bowls, a smoker, and cooking supplies on a table. Smoke rises as the food cooks.

We picked up a mulled wine and hot drinks and sat down to eat ours on the tables and benches provided.

A hand holds a sausage sandwich with sauerkraut in a bap, next to a reusable cup filled with a dark drink on an orange wooden table. Another person's arm rests on the table in the background.

When you’ve finished eating (obviously you can eat after getting your tree if you want!) you can go and pick your tree from the fields of Wylds Christmas tree farm, rows and rows of Christmas trees, it’s beautiful.

Rows of small evergreen trees grow in a field beside a muddy dirt track under a cloudy sky, with leafless trees visible in the background.

Every year we’ve gone it’s always been grey and cold, I really want to visit when it’s blue sky and a cold sunny day. It would look even more pretty like that.

A field of small evergreen trees with overgrown grass, bordered by leafless trees in the background under a cloudy sky. A small wooden shed is visible near the tree line.

This is when the kids get really panicky about picking the right tree as quickly as possible! They don’t want anyone to steal their perfect tree and rush around trying to find the perfect one.

You can walk all around the fields, finding which one you love the most.

Several young evergreen trees with dense green needles grow in an outdoor field, surrounded by dry grass and leafless trees in the background under a cloudy sky.

You can even bring your dog along with you to Wylds Christmas Tree Farm, they can help pick a Christmas tree!

Two fluffy dogs, one small and brown and the other large and white, sit side by side on grass among green Wylds Christmas tree pines. The white dog is panting with its tongue out under the overcast sky.

There is a range of different types of Christmas trees to picking from, depending on what you love. There are lots of people in the courtyard that can advise you which one, the price also changes on the type of tree too.

We have gone for a fir-type Christmas tree 2 years in a row now, we love the fluffy soft pine needles.

A field of young evergreen trees grows beside a grassy path, with leafless trees and cloudy skies in the background, creating a wintry countryside scene.

When you find your perfect tree you can either get someone who works there to come over and cut it, but they can be quite far away or run off their feet! So if you do have your own saw at home, Wylds Christmas tree farm is more than happy for you to bring along your own saw to cut the tree down.

Then you can get it back to the courtyard ready for you to net it up and pay for it, the price is dependent on height and type of tree.

Don’t panic, you don’t need to carry it all the way back again! You can get a tractor ride and a trailer ride back to the courtyard with your tree! This is super fun for the kids and a good experience to add to your day out.

Then it’s just time to get it on the car, or in it!

  • Make sure it’s secured down well
  • Use roof bards
  • Netted
  • Sheet around if you are worried about the needles scratching the roof
  • Stump facing forwards

Wylds Christmas tree 2022

It’s been such a lovely family thing to do for the past three years, we started it in the Covid lockdown year and it was super special to do with all of us. Outside and allowed us to feel Christmassy after a rubbish year. Now the Children are older you don’t get as much excitement and magic with them, so doing this each year is perfect. The kids are so excited to do it, and I will always go here now.

Do the Wylds Christmas trees last? They’ve always outlasted the time we have them up, so this year we went a week earlier to give us more choice on the tree, and I am glad we did. We have always put our trees in Christmas tree stands where you can top them up with sugar water to keep them happier.
