Pickwell Farm Pumpkins sell amazing pumpkins and is the local place we visit every year for our Halloween pumpkins. We love to support local businesses and think they’re so much better than the supermarket ones, bigger and better priced! We have visited Pickwell Farm for years now, and this was our first visit there, it’s got bigger and better year on year now.
I wanted to get some pumpkins to do some Halloween crafts with, but I didn’t want to just get them from the supermarket. I do like to support the local farms if I can, and after our visit to Pickwell Farm in the summer for strawberries, I knew just where to go for our pumpkins.
What makes it even more fun is that the children can pick their own pumpkins and after strawberry picking went down so well, I knew they were going to love pumpkin picking!
Pickwell Farm is so big, with different fields full of different types of fruit and vegetables, depending on the season you can pick lots of things. We headed off to the back of the farm and found the pumpkins!
It was a good game to hide a funny-shaped pumpkin, then the twins had to try to find it within all the pumpkins….as you can imagine that game didn’t last very long and the girls got bored looking!
I did expect that the prices were going to be more buying them from the farm, but the prices for a Pickwell Farm pumpkin are really reasonable, you get the choice of picking them yourself, or getting them out the tubs out the front. Each sizing is priced differently depending on what size you get. Also, they’ve started to sell white pumpkins too, which the kids love to make a ghost pumpkin!
It’s a great experience for the children, it shows them how the fruit and vegetables are grown, and it becomes a great activity to do with the children. They love the big open space of the pumpkin field, fresh air and picking their own pumpkin to carve. Don’t forget to look into how to use up the insides of your pumpkins, there are so many different ways to use it up, and create something tasty to eat. Another activity to do with the kids!
Pickwell Farm doesn’t just do pumpkins and strawberries, there are so many different vegetables and fruit growing in the fields, the sweetcorn is one of the kid’s favourite ones as it looks super impressive growing so tall, and fun to walk through! The corn on the cobs is delicious too.

- No dogs allowed
- Pay for weight or how many items
- Pick them yourself from the fields, and pay in the farm shop or kiosk outside.
- Parking at the farm
- Can be muddy if the weather has been wet

We went pumpkin picking last year at Secretts farm near Guildford, I loved it and so did the kids. We will be going again this year probably in half term as I loved all the different varieties on offer. Sarah #WhateverTheWeather

What a lovely way to buy pumpkins for halloween – so much better than going to the supermarket. We usually grow our own pumpkins at our allotment but we ran out of space this year, so we’re going to find a local farm like this. Sweetcorn is ready to harvest when the hairy bits sticking out of the end of the cob has turned brown, it will be lovely and ripe then 🙂 #whatevertheweather

Looks brilliant! We were pumpkin picking this weekend and had so much fun choosing pumpkins!
